Qualifications and Accreditations:
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling
Alongside my private practice I continue to work for a low cost counselling service. In addition to this, I reserve two reduced fee spaces for clients who are on low or no income. If these spaces are full, I can place you on a waiting list.
I am a registered member of BACP and work to their ethical guidelines. I attend professional supervision in line with the BACP professional standards.
What to Expect:
Weekly sessions of 50minutes
I offer online (Zoom) or in-person sessions in East Dulwich (I currently only have capacity for online sessions)
Our intro call will explore in brief what you expect from therapy and what brings you here. Our first couple of sessions will explore this in more detail. Throughout our work together we will regularly check in with how you think we are doing, what’s working and what’s being missed. Our sessions can be open-ended or split more formerly into blocks (e.g. 20 sesssions) where we review near the end of each block if you wish to extend or work towards an ending.
Fees:
My fees work on a sliding scale of £60-£100.
I prefer working long term and my fees reflect this.
Those able to afford the higher cost enables me to continue offering low-cost spaces to those who would otherwise find therapy unaffordable. We can discuss fees in our intro call and I will be led by you on what you can afford.
How I work:
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and respectful space for you to talk about you and feel what you’re feeling. A large part of our work will be building a space where those two things feel possible. Safety is a felt experience and together we can explore what this means for you. It may be useful for us to explore events in your history and relationships in your childhood to better understand what you are feeling and experiencing in your present.
My humanistic integrative training means I draw from various therapeutic schools of thought and work to a relational model. In practice, what this means is that paramount to our work is creating a relationship which feels safe. I believe the foundations to this are built through the offering of empathy and unconditional positive regard with honesty and integrity.
I am trauma-informed and continue my training in how trauma shows up in our minds and body and how to work with it. Drawing from modalities such as Gestalt and Transactional Analysis, the therapeutic space can become an environment from which we can begin a journey towards a better understanding of the ways you think, feel and behave, as well as, perhaps, the way you haven’t been able to think, feel or do.
This is collaborative and non-linear work. Always, we will be in contact with the present. Always, I will meet you as another human being in this shared space together. We will look at what is coming up for you in the here and now, in your emotions and body, and how this impacts you and your relationships. If there is need for change, where is that change possible? What is the impact of change? What is the impact of stasis?
For me, therapy is not about fixing. It’s about harnessing enough self-awareness that we are able to liberate ourselves from thoughts and feelings that feel beyond our conscious choice. It is also about being able to let go of that which we cannot or decide we do not wish to change. It is about giving space for thoughts and feelings we have not had the freedom to feel or name. It is also about being met with compassion so that we can learn to meet our whole selves with that same compassion.
We are relational beings. Our personalities are shaped in relation to others. I believe we heal in relation to one another too.
